What a weekend for the University of San Diego Women’s Track Team! Competing at the Aztec Invitational held at the SDSU Sports Deck on March 21-22, 2025, this enthusiastic group really brought their A-game. With a strong showing, it was wonderful to see that nearly half of the ladies achieved personal bests during this exciting event!

Team Spirit and Personal Growth

Under the leadership of Head Coach Will Guarino, the team has set high standards for individual development and growth. This strategy seems to be paying off, as many of the athletes are hitting new heights. The support among teammates and the thrill of competition were palpable, making it a memorable experience for all.

Outstanding 1500m Performances

First up in the spotlight were the outstanding runners in the 1500m. Senior Morgan Robinson kicked things off in style, finishing in an impressive second place with a time of 4:53.22, marking her own personal best! Not far behind, freshman Kaitlyn McQuillen secured third place with a time of 4:53.66, also a personal record. This duo really showcased their talent and hard work on the track.

But the excitement didn’t stop there! Other notable performances in the 1500m included Lilly Dow, who took fifth place with a personal best of 5:02.12, and Ashleigh Schein finishing right behind her in sixth with a personal best of 5:02.19. Camryn Kozak rounded out the field with a commendable eighth place finish, proving that the team is brimming with talent!

Redshirt senior Aryam Jaimes also put on a stellar performance in the second heat of the 1500m, finishing sixth with a time of 4:43.82, showcasing her speed and dedication to the sport.

Impressive 5000m Results

As the competition moved to the 5000m heats, things got even more thrilling. Sophomore Jillian Lange took home third place with an impressive personal best of 18:32.53, closely followed by junior Stella Smith in fourth place with her own personal best of 18:32.68. These two runners truly exemplify the spirit of competition!

Additional strong performances in the 5000m included Shelby Page earning sixth place, and Nathalie Green making waves in the midst of the pack with a personal best of 18:54.09. Last but not least, Allison Gagne crossed the finish line in 11th place with a proud personal best of 19:08.70!

400m Race and Next Steps

Rebecca Bronstein showed her competitive edge in the 1600m race, opening with a bold time of 5:26. Though she didn’t achieve a personal best this time, her spirited effort was noteworthy!

The USD Women’s Track Team will take their momentum and motivation into their next meet—the Vince O’Boyle Invite at UC Irvine on March 29, 2025. We can’t wait to see how they tackle this upcoming challenge!
