Residents of Coronado showcase their stunning gardens during the Homefront Judging Weekend.
The Coronado Floral Association is set to host the Homefront Judging Weekend from March 28-30, inviting residents to showcase their gardens and eco-friendly yards. Volunteers are welcomed, with no gardening experience necessary, to support this community celebration. The event will also recognize homeowners committed to sustainable landscaping. Last year, the top three gardens included properties on Country Club Lane, J Avenue, and E Avenue. Join the festivities and appreciate the beauty of Coronado’s gardens while promoting a greener community.
Hey there, beautiful Coronado! Are you ready to embrace your inner garden enthusiast? Mark your calendars for March 28-30, because the Coronado Floral Association is rolling out the welcome mat for its much-anticipated Homefront Judging Weekend! This is a perfect opportunity to showcase your patch of paradise and celebrate the vibrant environments that make our community shine.
For those eager to pitch in, this event could use all hands on deck! Volunteers are needed, and the best part? No prior gardening experience is necessary! If you’re interested in lending a helping hand, you can sign up online. Just don’t forget to mention “Emerald Keepers” in the comment box when you register! Donating your time not only makes the judging process smoother but allows you to soak up all the beauty Coronado has to offer up close and personal.
This year, the excitement is doubled as the Emerald Keepers will honor eco-conscious homeowners too! Along with the Floral Association’s awards, properties that excel in creating lovely, earth-friendly yards will be recognized, adding an extra special touch to the judging weekend. To grab an emerald green ribbon, a home must exhibit an array of qualities: evident effort, excellent maintenance, and that all-important curb appeal! Yes, even your parkway strip counts—while it may be city property, residents are responsible for keeping it spick and span.
Post-event, we’ll be talking about last year’s winners. In 2024, a remarkable 319 homes were acknowledged for their commitment to earth-friendly landscaping. The top three shows us just how much creativity is blooming in our community! First place went to the stunning property located at 801 Country Club Lane, followed closely by the charming yard at 931 J Avenue in second place, and the delightful garden at 1001 E Avenue taking home the third spot. Each of these homes showcased a blend of drought-tolerant plants and harmonious hardscaping that flowed beautifully into the parkway strip.
